04.06.2010: Area 16 Mounted Games Competition
Saturday 29th May, Ashwater
Wind and rain didn't deter our 2 gallant teams from giving there all at the Areas last weekend. 15 teams took part and the competition was fierce.
The A team of Lucy Scott, Jess Harrison, Alice Kodritsch, Sophie & Lucy Allen finished a creditable 8th. All the more remarkable considering Lucy was riding a pony she'd never ridden before! Thank you Rachel Watson for the loan of your wonderful Jester.
The B team led by Emma Cole of George Scott (barely recovered from a nasty tummy bug), Alice & Megan Graburn showed great promise for the future.
Naturally, disappointment that we didn't qualify for the Zones this year but all smiling faces at the end and much delight as the Graburn family produced a tray of cream horns for everyone to enjoy!

08.03.2010 - East Cornwall Triathlon
The Spooners & West Dartmoor Pony Club Tetrathletes concluded the Area 15/16 Winter League series of triathlons in great style at the final event held by the East Cornwall Pony Club. The accumulated scores of 4 out of 6 possible competitions decided the results.
The Junior Girls team of Lily Spry, Lucy Scott and Megan Groom finished third in the East Cornwall triathlon with Megan taking 4th place individually. Megan and Lily finished 5th and 6th respectively in the League.
Against strong competition in the minimus girls class, Georgia Bayliss was 4th individually and her consistently strong performances throughout the winter ensured her 4th place in the league.
Once again the minimus boys team of George Scott, Henry Ware and Kieran Horn produced fine scores , Kieran running and swimming personal bests. They finished 2nd as a team with individual honours of 4th, 6th and 8th respectively. Henry’s consistency throughout the winter earned him 2nd place in the league.
They now look forward to the tetrathlon season starting at the end of march when the additional phase of riding is introduced.

As individuals, in the Junior Girls Class Lily produced a great run to be awarded best run and 3rd place overall, with Megan achieving a great personal best swim in an exciting race to take the award for best swim and 6th place overall. Georgia's amazing run, together with a good shoot and swim earned her 4th place in the Minimus Girls Class. Henry's consistent performance in all three phases won him 2nd place in the Minimus Boys Class. Russell Spry's debut in the adult class was also sucessful and after a nerve wracking shoot he ran and swam well to take 6th place.
